India / Global — 2025: India's transition toward a circular economy is accelerating as businesses increasingly embrace sustainable manufacturing, resource efficiency, and waste reduction. However, recognizing organizations that deliver measurable circular impact requires more than ambitious sustainability claims—it demands a transparent, evidence-based evaluation framework.
Addressing this need, the ET Edge Champions of Circular Revolution Conclave 2025 partnered with Coherent Market Insights (CMI) as its official Research Partner to develop a comprehensive assessment methodology for identifying India's leading circular economy champions.
Held under the ET Edge GSA Transformation Series, the conclave convened industry leaders, policymakers, sustainability experts, investors, and innovators to discuss the future of circular business models, responsible manufacturing, and collaborative ecosystem development. During the event, the Champions of Circular Revolution 2025 Coffee Table Book was unveiled, recognizing organizations that have demonstrated measurable progress toward circular transformation.
A Research-Led Framework for Meaningful Recognition
Unlike conventional award programs that rely primarily on nominations or panel opinions, the initiative adopted a structured research methodology designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and credibility.
At the conclave, Mohit Shrivastava, AVP – Research & Consulting at Coherent Market Insights, presented the evaluation framework, explaining how independent research, sector analysis, and multi-layer validation formed the foundation of the selection process.
CMI began by mapping more than 1,000 organizations representing key segments of India's circular economy, including:
- Sustainable packaging and plastics
- Renewable energy
- Waste management and recycling
- Green construction materials
- Textile sustainability
- Food and agricultural systems
- Industrial manufacturing
- Material recovery and resource optimization
The research combined insights from sustainability reports, statutory filings, industry databases, public disclosures, expert consultations, and direct company engagement to build a robust assessment database.
Narrowing the Field Through Objective Evaluation
Following the initial industry mapping, approximately 200 organizations advanced after meeting predefined eligibility requirements. These included operational maturity, regulatory compliance, governance standards, sector relevance, structured sustainability practices, and demonstrated implementation of circular economy initiatives.
Rather than focusing solely on commitments or published ESG statements, the evaluation emphasized real-world execution and measurable outcomes.
A Balanced Scoring Model Across Diverse Industries
Recognizing that circularity looks different across industries, CMI developed a weighted evaluation framework capable of comparing organizations operating in vastly different sectors.
The assessment allocated scores across multiple dimensions:
- 30%– Execution and measurable business impact
- 20%– Circular strategy and long-term vision
- 20%– Innovation and business model transformation
- 15%– ESG governance and sustainability practices
- 10%– Ecosystem contribution and industry influence
- 5%– Inclusive and social impact
To ensure equitable evaluation, sector-specific normalization and company-size calibration were incorporated into the methodology, allowing emerging businesses and large enterprises to be assessed within an appropriate comparative framework.
Every shortlisted organization also underwent independent jury review, additional compliance verification, governance assessment, and validation of publicly reported sustainability outcomes before the final selections were confirmed.
Recognizing India's Circular Economy Leaders
Following the extensive research and validation process, 40 organizations were recognized as the Champions of Circular Revolution 2025.
The selected companies represent diverse industries while sharing a common commitment to scalable circular business practices, responsible resource utilization, innovation-driven sustainability, and long-term environmental value creation.
The recognition highlights organizations that are not only adopting circular economy principles internally but are also helping shape broader industry transformation.
Creating a Reliable Benchmark for Circular Leadership
For Coherent Market Insights, the initiative extends beyond recognition. By developing a structured, research-backed evaluation framework, CMI aims to establish a practical benchmark that businesses, investors, policymakers, and sustainability stakeholders can use to assess circular economy performance with greater confidence.
Such frameworks strengthen governance accountability, encourage measurable sustainability outcomes, and support evidence-based decision-making across industries.
As India's circular economy continues to mature, standardized evaluation models will play an increasingly important role in identifying best practices and accelerating large-scale adoption.
