Last month, the White Sox announced plans for a on Chicagos South Loop. Justin Laurence of reported last week that the organization was seeking roughly $1 billion in public funding for the project. Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf traveled to the Illinois capital to meet with state officials yesterday. Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson spoke with reporters Carter Kieboom Jersey this afternoon and sounded broadly open to the po sibility of approving money for both the White Sox and NFLs Bears. Im grateful that both organizations are committed to having these conversations. As far as financing these projects, both organizations know that they have to put some skin in the game. Theyre expre sed a commitment to do that , Johnson said ( ). As far as public dollars, we havent gotten into any of those specifics just yet. But I will say that were going to explore all options. But we have to make sure that were doing right by the people of Chicago. Everything is on the table here. But again, I want to make sure there is a real commitment to public use and public benefit. Its not clear how much the White Sox plan to invest in the project. Theyll surely continue discu sions with both city and state officials as they look to drum up funding.
